Surprisingly well! I’ve found Facetime works best, but do occasionally use Zoom.
1) I call you at the appointed lesson time
2) You answer with your phone/ipad/mac and position device so I can see your keys, hands and face
3) Adjust volume if necessary, and away we go

100%! I have many piano students who are homeschoolers. My BA in Music Education qualifies me to complete their charter school curriculum form, (generally only required for highschool), and sign off when they have completed the state requirements. I find that kids love to have their lesson early in the day as a break from their other curriculum. They are more energetic and engaged. Flexibility of lesson time is a plus, as they are able to take their online, (or in-person), piano lesson during their school hours. This is a huge benefit to the parents who are often working with other siblings. No travel or commute. No inconvenience in their day.

I’ve always been an in-person piano teacher, until the pandemic. Many teachers pressed pause on instruction, but I worked until I found a successful solution to continue my love of being a piano instructor via technology. This has proven so fun for both myself and my students. Some of whom have moved out of state but continue piano lessons on-line without skipping a beat! Learning should never be limited by our circumstances. Many charter schools and home school programs provide enrichment resources to support the arts. I have found that the benefits of a well rounded quality education are always worth it.
